I’m Back!!! Steely Dan Summer

Sorry that break took a little longer than planned. I wasn’t particularly motivated to get near my computer after it came back from the shop for it’s facelift last weekend…this would of course surprise anyone who knows me, as I usually have it with me for 18 hours a day, but I guess I needed a break. No, I know I needed a break. At any rate, I’m back.  And I’m back with an amazing playlist.

Dad raised us on Steely Dan, so I’ve been a fan of this band for a long time, but something clicked with me this summer and I went deep into their catalog. Thank god for the public library, I was able to interlibrary loan their entire discography and really take the time to listen to everything.

So, here’s my playlist of what I would say are the best songs they’ve produced. I asteriskeded the songs that show up on their greatest hits, just so you can see that this list is really beyond just the big hits. I also included the years and the album titles because I think it’s rather remarkable to see how many decades this band has produced great work, and how many albums they’ve put out with bits of genius on them. I have to say that the one thing I still need to do with this discography is study each album as a unit…looking forward to doing that next summer! Enjoy!!
