Another week, another set of great new releases in the music world!
I’ll get to the playlist in a sec but first, I have to tell you about how I’m now officially listening to WNHU all the time, and how we’re having a little bit of a thing together.
OK, obviously, I listen to the program that Kristen Bayusik works on and plays on weekdays from 4-6pm (the “88 Minutes 7 Seconds of Nothing But Music” block). I love that it occupies that precise time of the day because that’s usually right when my husband gets home from work with the car and we can listen to it while we’re driving around doing the days errands. In fact, that’s how I found WNHU.
Then, weekday mornings, they’ve got this incredible jazz program from 6-8am…yes, I have heard it once or twice. Yes, I would like to hear it more. No, I will not be purposefully waking up to hear it. Too bad, so sad. Moving on.
From 8-9am on weekdays, I get to listen to “Big Band” and “Memory Lane”. Exactly what it sounds like, classic standards hits, and they also often have great cover versions that I don’t know! I love that this is on the same station as the newest indie and rock releases that I get to hear later in the day on Bayusik’s program.
There’s a GREAT 12-1pm folk show on Wednesday, Thursdays and Friday. Totally worth setting an alarm to remember to tune into it!
And on Sundays from 2-3pm there’s Salsa!!! It gives me this fantastic Sunday feeling to listen to it while I do whatever I’m doing…driving…laundry…cleaning. Obviously it feels exotic, but it also feels relaxed, loose, carefree —it puts a little rhythm in my step, shall we say? Yes. We shall say.
Okay, onto the add’s for this week.
