INTERESTING FACTS (a la wikipedia)
– Live From Madison Square Garden is a 2 CD/2 DVD live album by Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood which was released on May 19, 2009. The album is made up of recordings from Clapton and Winwood’s performances at Madison Square Garden in February 2008.
– As it has been discontinued it is becoming increasingly difficult to find hard copies of the album, however iTunes does still offer a digital download.
– The series of concerts were not billed as an official Blind Faith reunion; rather “Winwood and Clapton”. They performed, primarily, Blind Faith songs as well as some selections from Traffic, Derek and the Dominos, Clapton’s solo career and some Jimi Hendrix covers.
– Winwood and Clapton crossed musical paths in 1969 with the formation of Blind Faith, a group that pioneered the fusion of rock and blues into tremendous studio and stage success. Despite critical and popular acclaim, the band was short-lived with only one album and a brief 1969 tour that debuted July 12th at Madison Square Garden and ended August 24th in Hawaii. Since that final show, Winwood and Clapton have remained friends, but have only performed together a few times over the years for an occasional song at a charity event.
– The 2008 Madison Square Garden shows were the first full Winwood-Clapton concerts in almost 40 years.
– Blind Faith is the self-titled album by the British supergroup Blind Faith, which consisted of Eric Clapton (The Yardbirds, Cream), Ginger Baker (Graham Bond Organisation, Cream), Steve Winwood (Spencer Davis Group, Traffic) and Ric Grech (Family).
– There was an intense buzz about the band and its debut album Blind Faith, which on release topped Billboard’s Pop Albums chart in America (as it did the UK and Canadian charts).
– Rolling Stone published three reviews of the album in their September 6, 1969 issue, which were written by Ed Leimbacher, Lester Bangs, and John Morthland.
